Conflict Management Workshops
The Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County (CRCMC) provides workshops on conflict prevention and resolution skills to members of community and church groups, service organizations, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.
Discussion on Conflict Resolution
Our skilled trainers can conduct workshops ranging from a half-hour to a half-day in length.
Workshops are highly interactive, so participants can get hands-on experience.
We can provide an “off-the-shelf” conflict management course or tailor a course to meet the unique needs of your organization.
We ask for donations of $100 per hour for each workshop that lasts an hour or more, but will not turn away any group that cannot pay.
We also provide speakers on conflict resolution and on all of CRCMC’s services. If our presentation is less than an hour, there is no charge to your organization.
Conflict Management Workshop Descriptions
These descriptions offer an idea of our three basic 2 hour workshops, however keep in mind that these can be adjusted to suit your particular needs. Call 301-652-0717 or 301-652-0718 for more information.
Individuals can sign up for these workshops through our partner Montgomery Works (301-946-1806). INTRODUCTION TO CONFLICT MANAGEMENT
This workshop is an opportunity to look at something everyone deals with every day -- conflict -- and to explore the different ways it can be handled. We all deal with annoying neighbors, demanding bosses, and significant others, friends, and room-mates that get on our last nerve. This workshop is a chance to look at conflict, different methods to approach it, and how conflict can be a positive or a negative force. It is the first part of a three-part series of workshops you can attend to look at what conflict is, how we can deal with it, and skills that can be used along the way.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
How do you show someone you're listening to them? This workshop looks at strategies you can use to show another person you are listening, de-escalate a situation, and find some mutual understanding. Listening to what someone really has to say is one of the hardest things for anyone to do. This is an opportunity to learn about how to make someone feel heard using some proven tools and techniques. This is the second part of a three-part series of workshops that look at what conflict is, how we can deal with it, and the skills that can be used along the way. Don't worry if you missed the first one, everyone is welcome.
CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING
Sometimes the hardest part of a conflict with another person is finding a solution. Win-win solutions, ones where both people have their needs met, are the ideal solutions, but getting to that point is often a challenge. This workshop is an opportunity to find ways to confront that challenge and hopefully overcome it. It is the second part of a three-part series of workshops that look at what conflict is, how we can deal with it, and skills that can be used along the way. There are no pre-requisites for participation in this workshop; everyone is welcome to participate.
